This species generates high-quality fruit bodies with relatively thick stems that grow in small clusters. White Shimeji mushrooms are known for being a relatively small mushroom with a thick, short stem and medium-sized caps that are a stunning white colour. They are described to have a savoury, umami and nutty flavour and a crunchy yet succulent texture when cooked. This mushroom can be used to promote a healthy lifestyle. Mushroom bodies may last up to 10 days after harvest in the fridge.

Agar cultures are to be inoculated onto sterilised grain. Post colonisation of the sterilised grain, the grain is to be used as grain spawn to inoculate a suitable substrate. The substrate and the grain are not included, only the petri dish agar culture.

Our colonised petri dishes are prepared in our sterile laboratory on nutrient-rich agar. We always test batches of petri dishes before dispatch. These strains have undergone thorough cultivation and testing processes to ensure their excellent performance and are the strains that we use in-house.

We aim to have all our petri dishes ready to dispatch whenever there is an order, but because it is a live mycelium sometimes dispatch may take longer. We will get in touch if this is the case.

Note: The petri dish you receive may look different to the one in the picture - if you have any doubts about the petri dish, please contact us. The petri dish is fully colonised and should be used as soon as you receive it. The described information has been tested thoroughly and the optimum conditions have been listed. Because of this, results may vary if the appropriate conditions are not met.

Storage: We recommend using the petri dish as soon as you receive it.

  • Please note that the petri dish should be used to inoculate and colonise sterilised grain. The colonised grain will then act as a vehicle to transport the mycelium onto the "Recommended substrate".
