This species generates a heavy yield of bright pink mushrooms. Their eye-catching colour is only one feature of this species along with its unique mild taste compared to other oyster mushrooms. One of the quickest-growing mushrooms you can cultivate. Mushroom bodies may last up to 7 days after harvest when stored at 8-10 °C. Do not store these mushrooms in the fridge - they are a warm climate mushroom and will not last if stored below 8 °C.

Agar cultures are to be inoculated onto sterilised grain. Post colonisation of the sterilised grain, the grain is to be used as grain spawn to inoculate a suitable substrate. The substrate and the grain are not included, only the petri dish agar culture.

Our colonised petri dishes are prepared in our sterile laboratory on nutrient-rich agar. We always test batches of petri dishes before dispatch. These strains have undergone thorough cultivation and testing processes to ensure their excellent performance and are the strains that we use in-house.

We aim to have all our petri dishes ready to dispatch whenever there is an order, but because it is a live mycelium sometimes dispatch may take longer. We will get in touch if this is the case.

Note: The petri dish you receive may look different to the one in the picture - if you have any doubts about the petri dish, please contact us. The petri dish is fully colonised and should be used as soon as you receive it. The described information has been tested thoroughly and the optimum conditions have been listed. Because of this, results may vary if the appropriate conditions are not met.

Storage: We recommend using the petri dish as soon as you receive it. Do not store below 8°C.

  • Please note that the petri dish should be used to inoculate and colonise sterilised grain. The colonised grain will then act as a vehicle to transport the mycelium onto the "Recommended substrate".

    Species: Pleurotus djamor
    Recommended substrate: Hardwood/straw (wheat)
    Fruiting duration: 3-5 weeks
Yield: Approx. 200g of fresh mushrooms per kg of our recommended wet substrate (1st flush); pre-inoculation
Inoculation % of wet substrate: 2-10%; higher inoculation % leads to a shorter incubation period. Do not exceed 10%.

Our recommended substrate for this species can be found here.
